Ex meth addict tells of addiction and recovery, is a ‘stuff’ article is about a lady named Maarametua Williams and her boyfriend who are ex meth addicts who had to find low to get clean. At her lowest she was ready to kill for her addiction, high on meth she was in a New Zealand bank with a loaded semi automatic weapon if anyone moved she was ready to shoot. She quotes "There were eight people, the gun held 12 bullets and I would absolutely have shot someone. The successful bank robbery leaves Maarametua and her boyfriend 250,000 dollars which was gone in months, spent on meth and gifts. Sentenced to jail and kids taken from her
It made me really angry that she would do this, even though she has kids. The kids' lives could be bad because of what she did - they would have no parents around them. In the article, it says, "The threat of losing her two children is constant, she's been tested twice by CYFs "
This article relates to New Zealanders as we have one of the highest meth user rates in the world. I think this is really bad and concerns me because it's my country. I think the police need to be more tough on meth users. It was good that they sentenced Maarametua Williams to jail - but this was for robbery, not meth use. You should have to go to jail for meth use. They would have have been down a relatable path and on there own willpower they came clean but many remain meth users. This show us what you will do for meth.
